Where every
journey begins

Kita-senju is said to be the very starting point of Matsuo Basho's legendary journey, Oku no Hosomichi. As he departed, he composed a haiku:

行く春や 鳥啼き魚の目は泪

"Spring is passing — the birds cry, and tears well in the eyes of the fish."

— Matsuo Basho, 1689

TORITO HOUSE takes its name from that poem — TORI (bird) and TO (fish) — as an homage to the spirit of departure and adventure that has defined this neighbourhood for centuries. A fully renovated single-family house, it is your own private base in Tokyo: the starting point of your journey.
